Eurovision semi finale

Watching now. It's the Irish entry. They want to win like they want nuclear waste.

Norway rock! Wig wag sound like not only the nineties but also the eighties never happened.

I too suspect that Eurovision will not be the centre of our attention this Saturday (and with good reason) - however, I am suddenly filled with a burning desire to publish a live weblog whilst watching it, just like they do with football on the Guardian website. So I propose the following plan:

1) We tape it and convene somewhere with said tape, VHS player, TV and internet access at a date shortly after.

2) We watch the shenanigans and update a blog after every song and during the voting, conveying as far as possible the excitement, mirth, melody and inebriation which we are experiencing ourselves, even though it all actually happened some time before.

My one reservation is that we will therefore have to prevent ourselves from learning who actually won until we watch it, resulting in a situation not unlike that episode of The Likely Lads with the football scores.

Thoughts, anyone?

Right then. I suggest

1) Sunday
2) Our flat.

That way we minimize the likely-lad-factor.

Either that, or we try to make it to Tom's party in Chicago.

Now hang on. What's going on on Saturday? From your comments, I deduce either that it is Richard's leaving party, or that George Bush is planning to nuke the whole of Europe.

Sadly unless I get my friends drunk in the middle of the day I will be unable to join in the fun. But I will check the blogs.
